The Chiththa Advanced Psychological Studies Open Institute of Sri Lanka Achieves QAHE Accreditation
We are delighted to announce that The Chiththa Advanced Psychological Studies Open Institute of Sri Lanka (CAPSOISL) has successfully obtained accreditation from the International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary and Higher Education (QAHE). This achievement reinforces CAPSOISL’s commitment to delivering high-quality educational programs in psychology and related fields.
Formerly known as the Chiththa Advanced Psychological Studies Open Institute of Ceylon (CAPSOIC), CAPSOISL was initially established as “The Society of Chiththa Certified Psychological Counsellors of Sri Lanka” on January 1, 2020. The institute was founded under the guidance of senior lecturers in psychology from national universities in Sri Lanka, ensuring a robust academic framework.
CAPSOISL operates as a nonprofit higher studies institution, incorporated under the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Companies Act 07 of 2007. Additionally, plans are in place for its incorporation under the Sri Lanka Parliament Act Bill No. 105 of 2022. This formal recognition underscores the institute’s dedication to maintaining high standards in education and professional training.
The accreditation from QAHE not only affirms CAPSOISL’s compliance with international educational standards but also enhances its credibility as a leading provider of psychological education. Moreover, CAPSOISL has received endorsements from several prestigious organizations, including the Human Resource Development Authority of Sri Lanka and the International Association of Applied Psychology in the U.S., making it the first institute in Sri Lanka to hold membership for teaching psychological studies.
In 2022, CAPSOISL expanded its recognition by collaborating with the Association of Health Care Trainers in the U.K. and securing an international signatory status from The University and College Sector’s Collective Response to the Global Goals (The SDG Accord) in the U.K. The institute has also partnered with the International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine and the Skill Development Council in Canada, further solidifying its international outreach.
With this accreditation, CAPSOISL is poised to attract a wider range of students, enhancing its mission to promote mental health awareness and psychological education both locally and internationally. The institute continues to offer a diverse range of programs, including certificate courses, diplomas, and advanced training, all designed to empower students to excel and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
We congratulate CAPSOISL on this significant accomplishment and look forward to the positive impact it will have on its students and the broader community.
