QAHE Awards Honorary Fellowship to Distinguished Maritime Leader and Social Impact Champion Dr. CJ Manjarres-Wahlberg
The International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary and Higher Education (QAHE) is pleased to announce the award of an Honorary Fellowship to Dr. CJ Manjarres-Wahlberg in recognition of his outstanding contributions to maritime safety, leadership development, emergency management, and social impact education.
Dr. CJ Manjarres-Wahlberg is a highly accomplished maritime professional, educator, and social entrepreneur with an exceptional record of service. A former Royal Australian Navy Signalman and Australian Army Reservist, he has dedicated over three decades to high-risk operational environments across the maritime, offshore, mining, and emergency management sectors. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Governors and Director of the Sea Heritage Foundation, where he has pioneered innovative Indigenous maritime training programs that have achieved a remarkable 99% completion rate — far exceeding national averages.
Holding a Doctor of Business Administration (Maritime Safety) and numerous postgraduate qualifications in safety, leadership, and emergency management, Dr. Manjarres-Wahlberg is also an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Wollongong and serves in several prestigious international roles, including Ambassador for the Confidential Human Factors Incident Reporting Programme (CHIRP) in Australia and New Zealand.
QAHE’s Honorary Fellowship recognizes Dr. Manjarres-Wahlberg’s exceptional leadership in bridging maritime heritage with meaningful social impact, particularly through the development of pathways for Indigenous Australians and veterans into the maritime industry. His work exemplifies the values of excellence, service, and community transformation that QAHE seeks to celebrate.
