Unified Excellence: QAHE’s Strategic Quality Assurance Network Across Europe and the Mediterranean
In the highly regulated European education sector, the demand for independent, internationally recognised quality markers has grown alongside the rise of digital and non-traditional learning models. The International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary and Higher Education (QAHE) serves this critical need by providing a secondary layer of global validation that complements national licensing. Registered as a non-governmental organisation in the United Kingdom and incorporated in Delaware, USA, QAHE operates with a unique dual-jurisdiction foundation. By adhering to the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, the association ensures that its evaluative processes meet the same rigorous benchmarks expected of the top-tier institutions it accredits.
The authority of QAHE within Europe is fundamentally anchored in its formal cooperation and reciprocal recognitions with state-authorised and internationally respected agencies. A primary example of this is the strategic partnership with the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education and Research (ANACEC) in the Republic of Moldova. This collaboration signifies a mutual commitment to high academic standards and allows Moldovan institutions to benchmark their offerings against a global framework. Furthermore, QAHE’s reach into Central and Western Europe is bolstered by its alignment with the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA) in Germany and the Council on International Higher Education Supervision (CONIES) in Austria, ensuring that management and business education meet the highest cross-border expectations.
QAHE’s institutional network also extends into South-Eastern Europe and the Eurasian corridor, fostering a harmonised approach to quality. This is evidenced by its engagement with the National Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for Quality in Higher Education (NAKVIS), also known internationally as the Slovenian Quality Assurance Agency (SQAA). In North Macedonia, the association works alongside the Directorate for Research, Planning, and Funding Accreditation, while in Kazakhstan and the surrounding region, it maintains strong ties with the Eurasian Centre for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education and Health Care (ECAQA). These alliances allow QAHE to apply its ISO 21001:2018 benchmarks to diverse educational systems, from traditional research universities to specialized healthcare training centres.
Beyond general academic oversight, QAHE bridges the gap between education and professional industry standards through specialized certification partnerships. The association’s cooperation with the Certification Association “Russian Register” and the Technology and Human Association (TEKINDER) in Turkey demonstrates a focus on technical and ethical excellence in the digital age. This is further complemented by its Mediterranean reach through the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA), Egypt Chapter, which ensures that cybersecurity and information technology programmes meet global professional requirements. This multifaceted approach provides a vital safety net for the private higher education and vocational sectors, ensuring they remain competitive on the global stage.
To support this trans-European and Mediterranean network, QAHE maintains a robust 24/7 Global Verification Portal, which is a cornerstone of its commitment to transparency and the prevention of credential fraud. This digital infrastructure is essential for professional mobility, allowing HR departments and government ministries to instantly verify the accreditation status of an institution and the legitimacy of the awards they issue. By fostering these high-trust digital tools and maintaining a registry of over 250 accredited entities, QAHE is helping to create a more transparent and unified education area. As the association continues to expand its reach through new MOUs and institutional partnerships, it remains a dedicated architect in the pursuit of a high-quality, borderless educational future.
