QAHE Announces Successful Accreditation Renewal for Faculty of Dentistry, Al-Turath University

The International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary and Higher Education (QAHE) is pleased to announce that the Faculty of Dentistry at Al-Turath University College has successfully renewed its international programmatic accreditation. Located in the Mansour district of Baghdad, Iraq, this prominent dental faculty is a vital department within Iraq’s oldest private university college, which was founded in 1988. This successful accreditation renewal highlights the institution’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, comprehensive academic and clinical training designed to graduate elite professional dentists.

The faculty’s accredited curriculum delivers a structured five-year program leading to a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree, which is fully recognized and accredited nationally by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) in Iraq. The academic structure is split into two distinct phases to balance deep theoretical knowledge with critical hands-on medical experience. During the pre-clinical stage spanning the first three years, students focus heavily on basic medical and dental sciences—including anatomy, histology, biochemistry, pharmacology, and dental anatomy—alongside early laboratory simulation training.

Progressing into the clinical stage during years four and five, students treat patients under the direct supervision of experienced faculty members. This advanced phase covers essential fields such as oral surgery, orthodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry. QAHE’s rigorous review evaluated these phases alongside the university’s exceptional facilities, which feature phantom laboratories with advanced anatomical models for preclinical training, dedicated research centers supporting faculty and undergraduate projects in biomaterials and oral health, and specialized clinics with modern dental chairs that provide free or heavily subsidized dental care to the local community.

By issuing this renewal, QAHE proudly reaffirms the global credibility and professional readiness of Al-Turath University College’s dental graduates. This international endorsement ensures the institution maintains optimal educational benchmarks while continuing its impactful role in local public health and regional scientific research.
